Located near downtown Hinsdale, Learn To Make Music is a non-profit organization dedicated to connecting music students with professional musicians who are experts in their craft.

Meet the Teacher

Dana Joras is a flutist, composer and teacher from the Chicago area. She studied at DePaul University with Mary Stolper and the Royal Academy of Music in London with Samuel Coles and Patricia Morris. Dana actively composes and arranges music for her chamber ensembles, including her flute quartet, ChiFlutes.

A recipient of the Musicians Club of Women Farwell-Trust Award, Dana is also a winner of the Jonathan Myall Piccolo Prize and was awarded second prize at the 2013 British Flute Society Young Artist Competition. Dana’s piece, Carnival Pieces for Flute Ensemble, was selected as the winner of the 2013 NFA Flute Choir Composition Competition and her piece for solo piccolo, Quirks of Quarks, was awarded 2nd place in the 2013 IPS Jan Gippo International Piccolo Composition Competition. Dana’s works are published by Alry Publications.
